The Michelle Makena Miriti Trust was founded to galvanise community action for healthy and happy generations through initiatives that focus on the healthy wholeness of individuals and society at large. It envisages to apply integrated approaches to personal health, environmental conservation & regeneration, creative & inspirational art and Christian Ministry.
Who was Makena?
She was a force of nature, touching many lives
Michelle Makena Miriti—often referred to simply as Makena Miriti—was the only daughter of the Miriti family in Kenya. Tragically, she passed away from lupus, an autoimmune disease, in 2020
Her death inspired her parents to establish the Michelle Makena Miriti Trust, which aims to raise awareness about lupus and support patients battling the condition. A notable example of their impact occurred in May 2025, when the Trust provided financial assistance of 30,000 KSH to help nursing student Purity Nkatha register for her licensing exam and continue essential treatment
Makena’s story was covered by major Kenyan media outlets—including Daily Nation and NTV Kenya—highlighting her joy and the positive influence she had on those around her before lupus took her life .
