The Bambooo Project

Restoration of Biodiversity to combat climate change Impacts and Lead  a Youth Green revolution in semi-arid zones of Mt. Kenya East Region.

Our trust is spearheading a transformative afforestation project aimed at restoring biodiversity and revitalizing river ecosystems across the Mt. Kenya East Region. The project focuses on planting trees along rivers and streams—commonly known as riparian corridors—within the counties of Laikipia, Meru, Isiolo, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Samburu, and Marsabit.

This initiative seeks to:

  • Restore diminishing local biodiversity

  • Increase river water volumes

  • Provide fodder for livestock

  • Supply sustainable fuelwood for local communities

  • Sequester greenhouse gases and mitigate climate change

  • Improve nutrition and livelihoods through fruit tree planting

At its heart, the project is community-driven. We will collaborate closely with:

  • Local cultural associations

  • School environmental clubs (Environmental Champions)

  • Faith-based organizations (FBOs)

  • Interested individuals passionate about environmental stewardship

By aligning ecological goals with the social and economic needs of local populations, this project ensures that the primary beneficiaries are the very communities living within these regions. Together, we aim to build a greener, healthier, and more resilient future.

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.
