The Michelle Makena Miriti Trust (MMMT) stands on four enduring pillars — Health & Fitness, Environment, Art & Creatives, and Gospel & Ministry.
Each pillar represents a facet of Makena’s heart, translating her personal passions into lasting programs that touch lives and transform communities.
Together, they form the foundation of a movement that seeks to build healthy, happy, and godly generations, guided by the same grace, creativity, and compassion that defined Makena’s life.
For Makena, health was more than physical wellness — it was harmony of body, mind, and spirit. Her experience with Lupus, a rare autoimmune disease, taught her resilience, faith, and empathy. She faced her illness not with defeat, but with a radiant strength that inspired everyone around her.
Through the Health & Fitness Pillar, the Trust continues her fight for awareness and understanding of Lupus and other chronic conditions. We strive to ensure that no family or young person walks the journey of illness alone.
To see individuals and families thrive in body, mind, and spirit — living whole, joyful, and purposeful lives.
Makena loved nature deeply. She often found peace in green spaces, sketching trees, or walking through gardens. She believed that taking care of the Earth was one of humanity’s highest callings — a way of giving thanks to God for His creation.
The Environment Pillar continues her legacy of stewardship and love for the planet. It focuses on restoring ecosystems, promoting sustainable practices, and teaching communities to live in harmony with nature.
🌿 The Bamboo Riverbank Restoration Project – A long-term initiative to plant bamboo along degraded riverbanks, preventing soil erosion, cleaning water sources, and creating green jobs for youth. Learn More about our Bamboo project here.
To build a future where every community lives sustainably and every child grows up surrounded by clean air, safe water, and green beauty.
Art was Makena’s voice. Whether through music, painting, poetry, or dance, she used creativity to express truth and emotion. She believed that art could bridge hearts, tell stories that words cannot, and bring light into darkness.
The Art & Creatives Pillar keeps that flame alive. It nurtures creativity among the youth, offers platforms for expression, and reminds the world that art is not a luxury — it’s a lifeline.
🎨 Teacher Okanga Art Collaboration – An initiative that celebrates environmental conservation through visual art, inspiring youth to express care for the planet.
To see a generation of young creators using art to heal, teach, and transform society — just as Makena did.
Faith was the heartbeat of Makena’s life. She loved God deeply and served people selflessly. Her compassion for others — whether visiting the sick, helping friends, or sharing words of encouragement — was the purest reflection of her Christian faith.
Through the Gospel & Ministry Pillar, the Trust advances her ministry of love, service, and evangelism. It seeks to bring hope where there is despair, to share the gospel through practical acts of kindness, and to remind communities that love is the greatest commandment.
To extend the love of Christ through tangible works — feeding, teaching, comforting, and uplifting those in need.
Each pillar is a thread in the tapestry of Makena’s life — woven with love, faith, art, and service. Together, they form the framework through which the Trust transforms memory into mission.
They remind us that one person’s passion can become many people’s purpose.
Every hand that plants a tree, every voice that sings, every coin that supports a child’s health, every prayer that uplifts — adds another chapter to Makena’s story.
